![]() I've scoured all over the web in search of a solution or other victims of this issue and it seems this is the only place such issues are mentioned. The article explaining the headlight switch symptoms is Changing the headlight switch did indeed fix the headlights randomly turning off and the other symptoms that seem to be related to that, so it wasn't all for naught. I did have the failing headlight switch (headlights randomly flashing/turning off/seem possessed at whim) so I just replaced that in hopes that it may resolve the random instrument cluster failure, but to no avail. I am uploading it and will provide the link to the YouTube video when it's available. I have taken a video with my phone of the issue for documentation purposes. It seems that the best workaround is to restart the car at a stoplight or just endure the annoying dinging and flashing until I reach my destination. For some reason that decides to be the only thing illuminated amongst the otherwise lifeless instrument cluster. One strange observation I've made is that occasionally when the issue is really bad, my gauges will die for an extended period of time (5-10 seconds) and the only sign of life in the instrument cluster is the red anti-theft light. The radio just keeps playing and doesn't seem to reset in anyway. ![]() All the gauges sporadically die, idiot lights go crazy flashing, heater stops running, rear wipers and heated seats reset to off, headlights turn off when on auto (but stay on when in the on position), but yet the Radio/Nav/CD doesn't seem affected. The issue in particular sounds very similar to the issues described here by the OP. Ultimately, I'm just not sure the cause or condition that seems conducive to reproducing the issue. And while I have not isolated the issue to being one related to moisture or precipitation, we have had more fog and light rain/snow this winter than last year, and thus may indeed be somehow related to the increasing frequency of the issue. I attribute this to more timing (15-20 min commute) rather than location based (which would be absurd). It actually seems that it frequently happens roughly around the same area on my daily commute home. ![]() My car is cozy in a garage during the night, but after sitting in my cold work parking lot during the day, it seems to have the issue the most on the way home. The issue has escalated to the point where it almost happens daily. It definitely tends to get worse when it's colder (20F-40F). I've had this issue off and on for the past year or so now with my 06 Dodge Magnum R/T AWD. I think I will try looking for bad grounds and replace the headlight switch. It may have happened when my seats were on but I really don't think that is the only reason because I don't keep them on very long.ĭoes anyone know what the "Power Module" is? ![]() In my case it happens even in the summer. It was a short in the heated seats that overloaded the power module and caused the gauges and headlights to keep resetting. But in their case it was happening when the heated seat was ON. Others have told me it might be a heated seat issue. I'm thinking I should start by replacing the headlight switch BUT I have no clue if that's the issue. It SEEMS if I leave the headlight knob in the normal ON or OFF position it does not happen as much BUT it still happens. If I turn the headlights back to the manual ON position then the head lights turn back ON. If this happens at night the headlights also go out. When I stopped to get gas a few hours later and restarted the car, 4 cylinder mode was working again. I then noticed it was no longer running in 4 cylinder mode. A few months while ago on a long trip it did it for about 15 minutes straight. So I don't think its connected?Īll the idiot lights go on and off. When I bought the car in 08 I did the headlight modification to the headlight knob so it will go one more click counter-clockwise so they come on automatically when it gets dark out. I live in Cincinnati and cold/damp is normal this time of the year. It also seems to happen more often when its cold or damp out. This happens A LOT now! At first is was just random once or twice over a 4 month period. I have had this same issue! I have an 06 Daytona.
